Student Watches PCU, Says Film Reminds Him Of Somewhere
LOOSE – A recent viewing of the 1994 campus comedy PCU has left Jared Grunderson ’13 in a pensive mood, as the second-year couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the fictional college campus portrayed in the film and “other college campuses I’ve heard about.”
“Well it’s funny, because students in that movie really exaggerate the activist nature of their school’s student body, when in reality many of the things that are being protested have little to do with true progressive politics,” said Grunderson.
“Right? Because their students protest the food, they protest sports, they pretty much protest everything. I think the title “PCU” could be in reference to the kind of “politically correct” colleges and universities where things like this might happen. But I’m probably just reading into it too much.”
In a related story, Grunderson says he recently witnessed an FM employee solving a difficult mathematical proof outside a Noyce classroom intended for students in an upper level math class, “which is kind of like Good Will Hunting, you know?”
